Commission Program
In the fall of 2012 the Minnesota Valley Men's Chorale Board of Directors decided to commission a work in honor of our 10th anniversary concert season. Under the recommendation of our artistic director, Steve Boehlke, the board decided to ask a nationally renowned, highly respected educator/composer, and good friend of MVMC, Dr. David Dickau, to write our first commission. The piece, The Road Not Taken, debuted in the fall of 2013, was not only a huge hit with the members of the organization, but also with choirs around the United States.
MVMC offers an opportunity to sing with people you love, while furthering a mission that cultivates new choral compositions and enables young singers to succeed.
Eric Ebert, Baritone
Spawning from the success of the first commission, the board of directors established a commissioned composer program to further men's choral repertoire by commissioning a work every year. The Chorale will debut a new, unique work every year and work with the composers to promote the work to the choral community.
